The coastal municipality of Gulen is situated at the very south west of Sogn and Fjordane county and the borders of Hordaland county, Sognefjord and Fensfjord. 

The land area of 596 sq.km contains an exciting landscape including 1500 islands, islets and skerries, and a mainland which is characterized by small valleys crossing the landscape. 

There is a wide span between the outer naked island to the exuberant agricultural rural districts, the wild mountains in the east, and the mountain dairy farms. 

The 2500 inhabitants live scattered in Gulen evenly divided in four school sectors which are Brekke, Dalsøyra, Eivindvik and Byrknes. 

The local churches are situated at Brekke, Eivindvik and Mjømna.
